Angela Tellez-Lance, Ph.D.

Angela Tellez-Lance, PhD has worked in the food industry for over 25 years as a researcher, professor, corporate leader, and auditor. In the last six years, she has worked as both a consultant and an auditor with several facilities in the US, Colombia, Chile, and Canada. Dr. Tellez-Lance has also been the Food Safety Expert Adviser and process authority for the Food and Beverages Innovation Center at Niagara College since 2018. In 2012 Angela joined Kraft Foods Group as the Food Safety and Microbiology Lead for Canada. Previously, Angela worked for the Department of Food Science at the University of Guelph as a researcher and adjunct faculty in the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Master Program, and later as Director of the Guelph Food Innovation Center. From her position at the University, she had the opportunity to lead large projects with some of the largest Canadian food manufacturers and retailers. Dr. Tellez-Lance earned her bachelor’s in chemical engineering from the Universidad Industrial de Santander in Colombia, an M.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering from Texas A&M, and a PhD in Food Science University of Guelph. Angela also advises graduate and undergraduate students and is a reviewer for various scientific food safety peer-reviewed journals
