Introduction to Microbiology Research
8-Week Intensive for Curious Future Scientists
This 8-week course is designed for motivated middle and high school students who are ready to transition from being science consumers to science creators. Led by Dr. Angela Anandappa, this program treats students as junior researchers. Participants will dive deep into the unseen world of microbes, exploring how they influence human health, food systems, and the environment.
Rather than following "kit-based" experiments with predetermined outcomes, students will use professional-grade lab supplies to conduct open-ended investigations. By the end of the term, each student will have designed, executed, and documented a unique research project suitable for top-tier science fairs or pre-college portfolios.
Duration: 8 weeks (12 hours in class, 20+ hours out of class)
